Sliding sash windows are a classic style choice for period properties or for more modern buildings for an elegant finish. Here at Parry Joinery we are at the forefront of modern sliding sash window manufacture, creating windows that can be sympathetically matched to the style or original features of a property.

Whilst our sliding sash windows are manufactured using traditional methods, using soft or hardwood frames. The timber is factory engineered using opposite grain directions to add strength to joint sections and by removing any natural defects avoids the risk of warping or twisting of the wood. Frames are also treated with stain and or a choice of paint finishes that help to preserve the timber.

Sliding Sash Windows have been designed to include traditional features that can incorporate modern draught seals, security fittings and double glazing to create practical and energy efficient windows, while still maintaining the period look. Windows are carefully matched to fit the original features of a property with glazing bars and mouldings, as well as pulleys and cords, supplied and fitted.

Where original single glazed windows are replaced with double glazed sliding sash windows it may be necessary to replace the original lead weights with adjustable balanced spring counterweights (spiral balances), this is because the larger weights required could restrict sash movement

Sliding Sash windows come in a range of styles from the Traditional sliding sash to Spiral balanced and Yorkshire Horizontal. Windows can also be manufactured in a bespoke style, for example one of our more unusual projects was to create a curved sliding sash window for the corner of an unusually shaped property in Malpas, Cheshire. As sliding sash windows are often the style of heritage renovation projects we are also able to supply a range of historically sympathetic styles including Georgian, Edwardian, and Victorian with Ovalo or Lambs Tongue mouldings.
