Work-Experience for aspiring students

Parry Joinery prides itself on the quality of its training and the high level of skill of its workforce. As part of the company’s commitment to the future of the industry, Parry Joinery regularly accepts students on work experience programmes. We currently have secondary school students, keen to enter the joinery trade, spending their work experience in our workshop to get a taste of the day to day responsibilities of a factory based joinery. The Company offers two apprenticeship programmes, these are Bench Joinery and Wood Machinery, both completed on a day release programme either at Stoke College for Wood Machinery or local technical colleges for Bench Joinery. Stoke College has an excellent reputation for supporting its students and ensuring they are receiving the best theoretical background to their vocational studies. The college offers a wide range of apprenticeship programmes and our machinery apprenticeship comes under the Construction and Building services category. It gives our apprentices an opportunity to learn whilst they earn and work alongside experienced staff to gain job-specific skills. Their studies are on a day-release basis where they are able to work towards a nationally recognised qualification. Parry Joinery are keen to encourage young people into the industry offering them the opportunity to learn a practical trade that will always be in demand. The excellency with which our apprentices have completed their studies and training has usually resulted in an offer of permanent employment with the company. In fact only last year one of our now full time Joiners was awarded the Intermediate Apprentice of the year at the Student Excellence Awards, which highlights the truly positive impact that this apprenticeship programme has had on our young employees.
