The Old Calveley Arms – Handley.

Case Study

The Calveley Arms, a former public house located in Handley, is presently undergoing a transformation into a residential property. As part of this renovation project, Parry Joinery was entrusted with the creation of several bespoke joinery items, including doors, door frames, and casement windows. Even in the midst of ongoing modernisation efforts, the joinery work has already played a significant role in enhancing the visual appeal of this historically significant structure, as evident in the image provided.

The doors and frames for the client were meticulously crafted using Sapele hardwood. These doors were built with a durable plywood core and featured a distinctive design consisting of double boards with vertical tongue and groove boards, adding a touch of elegance.

The casement windows were carefully tailored to fit various sizes, as demonstrated in the photos. Notably, bay windows were incorporated into the external front elevation, bestowing the property with character and uniqueness.

To achieve a refined and harmonious look for the windows, both the doors and windows were supplied with a primer coat and painted in the shade of Farrow and Ball French Grey. This color choice exudes a subtle yet complementary aesthetic, enhancing the distinctive charm of the property.
